Do I need a referral?

No – in short – you do not need a referral to get into a CareNZ treatment programme. 

However, we do get referrals from many GPs and health professionals around the country – and even from the justice system. CareNZ also does court assessments and referrals, which can be helpful if you are working your way through this process.

If you have not been referred to us, you can:

• Make contact
• Take the drug self-assessment test and/or
• Take the alcohol self-assessment test

before making an appointment or using the self-referral form. At this appointment, we will assess your needs and from here decide on your best, next steps.
