‘What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.’
I knew that the reality of my situation had been placed in front of me. It was like the 'Wero' – a challenge. Either I pick it up and go with it, or continue for the rest of my life avoiding it.

NSAD

The New Zealand Society on Alcohol and Drug Dependence

NSAD is a charitable trust with the longest history of involvement in alcohol and drug treatment policy and delivery in New Zealand. NSAD supports CareNZ to deliver the best treatment options in the community and in prisons.

NSAD works to ensure that the rights of all New Zealanders to treatment are guaranteed at the highest level. The trust is committed to ensuring that treatment is a significant part of any policy that affects the treatment sector and New Zealanders who have problems with drugs and alcohol.

A key focus of NSAD’s treatment philosophy is the international shift away from justice-based drug and alcohol interventions to those based on the health, safety and overall wellbeing of the individual. NSAD remains dedicated to ensuring that – when needed – New Zealanders have access to impartial and non-punitive, addiction treatment.
