AOD Counsellor – Brief assessment and intervention (Single Point Of Entry)
We require an experienced AOD counsellor, mental health professional or generic counsellor to cover a role within our dedicated Single Point of Entry Team who carry out Screenings, Brief Assessments, Comprehensive Assessments as well as Brief individual and Group Intervention for people referred for AOD assessment and/or intervention by the Probation Service.
To be successful in this challenging and rewarding role you will work from a strengths based solutions focused perspective. You will have strong empathy and be skilled in motivational enhancement to support the participants to make positive change and turn their lives around.
We welcome applications from qualified AOD counsellors as well as those from allied disciplines, such as counselling who have a passion for alcohol and drug treatment and are committed to developing their knowledge and skill base in this important area.
The successful applicant will have;
- A qualification in AOD counselling, counselling, nursing or social work
- Experience in addictions counselling or an allied field
- Full dapaanz, NZCA or other relevant professional body registration
An ability to build, develop and sustain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders is also important. No two days are the same so flexibility and adaptability are also key.
