‘What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people.’

Your Rights

CareNZ has an established complaints process set in place.

Delivering addiction treatment is a delicate process. It often means been challenged on intrinsic beliefs that you have held true for many years. As with all change, it can be a painful process.

To ensure that your voice is valued on this journey, a set of client rights have been created by the Health and Disability Commissioner and these include:

  • respect and privacy
  • fair treatment
  • options explained to you clearly
  • access to all the information you need
  • support, encouragement and guidance

If you experience any problems you can talk to your counsellor about how to make a complaint. However, if you’re not comfortable doing this, then you can go directly to the Health and Disability Commissioner by phoning 0800 112 233 or visiting the HDC website.
