Driving Forward Programme

Our Driving Forward Programme is a two-day group work programme for recidivist drink and/or substance impaired drivers. It is currently available in Manawatū and the Wairarapa. Participants are usually referred to us by the justice system, however you can also self-refer for the programme here.

The programme focuses on motivating participants to change their behaviour and provide strategies to do this, with the goal of reducing re-offending. The course includes a combination of alcohol and drug education, information on safer driving, victim awareness, and managing high risk situations.

For more information about our Driving Forward programme email us at drivingforward@carenz.co.nz

Out of Gate

Out of Gate helps people who are in prison for less than two years or are on remand to prepare for their release and support them to successfully reintegrate into the community.

We provide an educational reintegration programme for those on remand focused on the six pillars of reintegration. We also provide individual navigational support, where our team will walk alongside you upon release to help you navigate your reintegration needs.

The six pillars of Out of Gate are: accommodation, oranga/wellbeing, family/whānau/community support, education and training, employment and skills for life.

This service is provided in partnership with Te Waka Whaiora Trust (Porirua/Wellington), Mana o te Tangata Trust (Palmerston North), Te Hauora Runanga o Wairarapa Inc (Wairarapa), and Poutini Waiora (West Coast).

You can access our Out of Gate service by asking your Corrections case manager or probation officer to refer you.

Hamilton Alcohol and Other Drug Treatment Court (AODTC)

The AODTC (Te Whare Whakapiki Wairua ki Kirikiriroa) was established to address the underlying causes of offending that are linked to addiction.

It provides a way to break the cycle by focusing on healing and wellbeing.

If you are involved in the Hamilton Court system and facing a prison sentence of six months to three years and are pleading guilty, this programme could be a good option for you. If you’re interested, ask your lawyer to refer you to Te Whare Whakapiki Wairua ki Kirikiriroa.
